My current client, Honeywell International (“Company H”), is leveraging WalkMe, a desktop assistant tool, to provide context-sensitive help for end user employees using SAP to do their jobs in various pillars of Honeywell’s business. The training team, of which I am a part, is not only creating walk-thrus to overlay SAP right on the screen and provide help and tips in the work environment, but also leveraging the screen captures for system testing in the lead-up to SAP training go-live. System testing has been going on since January 2023.
In reflecting on this assignment, which I consider part of the development phase of ADDIE, while creating this video, I found myself reverting to the old role I’ve been in for many years, namely step-by-step instructions on how to use the tool. The instructor gently guided me toward a different purpose for this video, almost a marketing or change management tool to show the end users how using this tool can benefit them as they do their jobs. I believe this video sets the stage for authors first learning to use WalkMe and enables them to reflect on how they can leverage this tool in their own work.
