More than just an academic program, the M.S. in IDD&E at Syracuse is different, if not unique, in that in addition to the theory of learning and instructional design, multiple opportunities exist and, in fact, are required to apply the learning we acquire in class to a digital portfolio of practical and didactic projects and deliverables. It is intended to be a professional practice degree. For new college grads, or those who may be transitioning from another career field, this is a great way to show off their newfound skills to potential employers. For mid-career professionals like me, this program has been an outstanding way to buttress my work experience with theory that I can apply when I go back to consulting—and the extra tech tools and techniques I’ve picked up along the way don’t hurt, either.
